Requirements
Please read these requirements carefully before submitting a quilting project.
Fabric requirements:
Length and width of batting and backing must be 10” more than the quilt top. For example, if the quilt top is 60” x 60”, the batting and backing must be 70” x 70”.
No long-pile ‘minky’ backing, please. Shannon “Cuddle”, flannel, or Moda “Snuggles” fabric is okay.
Pricing:
Edge-to-edge quilting is 2.5 cents per square inch (minimum of $50 per quilt).
Limited custom quilting depending on available time: Cost is based on the size of the quilt and the density of the quilting design (minimum of $50 per quilt).
Thread fee: $3 for top thread and $3 for bobbin thread (If you prefer to provide your own thread, my preference is Glide thread.) For very dense quilting designs, the thread fee is $6 for top thread and $6 for bottom thread.
Ironing (if needed) is $10.
I will trim the quilt after quilting. I normally do not do the binding.
Before dropping off your quilt for quilting:
Quilt top should lie flat (no noticeable ripples or tucks)
Top/bottom and left-side/right-side should be as parallel to each other as possible.
Press all seams flat. Use Acorn pressing solution to minimize bulky intersections. (Do not press piecing seams open unless your quilt pattern instructions require it. This causes stitching in the ditch around pieces to weaken your quilt.)
Trim any loose threads on the back of the quilt.
Purchase batting and cut to size (10” longer and 10” wider than quilt top.)
Prepare your backing. (10” longer and 10” wider than quilt top. Remove the selvage from the edges to be stitched together. Stitch sections together with 1/2” seam; press the seam open.)
